Prescott, Kansas, has been a relatively peaceful town for many years. It has just enough farming, industry, and hardy residents to scrape by. Most importantly, it's just far enough west to escape the notice of the semi-nomadic Carver Clan, apart from an occasional raid. All of that changed when the drought began and the dust blew in. The crops aren't doing well, and a blight is starting to spread among the people. If a cache of food and medicine can't be found soon, the town won't survive.
As some of the last able-bodied people around, you've been asked to head eastward on a three-day journey to Vista, Missouri, following rumors of a community there that might be open to trade.
Life is harder in post-nuke America, and the moment you set foot outside of your isolated town, it's only going to get worse.
