About
Con Planner was started in late 2009 by the Fear the Boot
RPG podcast to help with
their yearly convention. This website is still under development; some features aren't fully implemented and others may
have bugs. However, these tools are available free of charge to any convention that wishes to use the
site for their own event. If you find any errors or wish to request a feature, feel free to
contact technical support using the link at the bottom of any page.
This website is tested using the latest versions of Internet Explorer and Firefox, and is best viewed using
one of those browsers.

Known Bugs - Admin Tools
- Changes to slot times can create conflicts where attendees are running and/or signed up for newly overlapping events. Some sort of resolution needs to be put in place for such situations. RSS entries should also be added for affected parties.
- Slots should only be allowed to fall within the convention's dates.
- Shifting the dates of a convention should remove any slots that now fall outside of the convention dates.
- Admins should not be able to create slots until the start and end dates for the convention have been specified.
- Admins should not be able to create tickets with a price unless a PayPal email address has been specified.
- If a ticket type is deleted, all ticket holders should be informed via their RSS feed.
- If a slot is deleted, affected activity heads should be informed via their RSS feed.
Known Bugs - Attendee Tools
- Attendee ID needs to be added to the LINKS section of RSS entries. Clicking on activities will falsely report the user isn't logged in.
- Tickets with a price of $0.00 should automatically become PAID without going through the PayPal process.
- Additional confirmation code will be added to make sure a person has the right to buy selected tickets for selected attendees before passing the data to PayPal. This is an added layer of processing monitoring. Ticket purchasing is currently secure and functional.
Known Bugs - Site Wide
- The error page is not currently sending a contact email to technical support with error details despite its claim to be doing so.
Planned Features - Admin Tools
- Replace HTML reports with PDF ones for more reliable printing.
- Add a rich-text editor to allow for limited HTML tags in convention information.
- Add filtering and sorting to the Place Activities screen. This will be most important for conventions with large numbers of planned activities.
- Fields currently exist for a variety of con options. Code needs to be added to implement these options. This list includes attendee-created slots, whether to allow ticketless sign-up, whether to allow ticketless activity creation, and whether to allow attendees to create any activities at all.
- Organization creators will be able to manage a list of Organization Admins that can help them manage conventions operated by that organization.
- Dates should be added for cutting off convention signup, sale of each ticket type, and activity signup or changes.
- A web-based report and XML output should be created for listing activities.
- Tickets will have the option of being restricted to a timeframe. Someone purchasing a Friday Pass would only be able to sign up for slots that begin on Friday.
- Tickets will have the option of being restricted in quantity.
- Screens for web-based, paperless check-in and ticketing of existing and new attendees.
- Expand the Status Report to show tickets sold and comped by type along with inventory remaining.
- Admins should be able to create activities in restricted slots and force them on attendee schedules.
- Admins should be able to moderate their conventions by booting attendees, banning accounts from creating attendees, and modifying activity titles, descriptions, slots, seats, and alternates.
- Pages will be created for uploading con-related documents like maps or booklets.
- Add a Test Changes button to pages that can impact attendees to preview what effect the change will have. This feature is complex and will not likely be implemented for some time.
- Add the ability to limit the number of events in a particular slot.
Planned Features - Attendee Tools
- Add a search feature for finding activities within a convention by activity type.
- Add the ability to create your own slots, if allowed by the convention admins.
- Add a printed packet for activity heads that list their activities, seated attendees, and alternates.
- When an attendee has been selected, add a note to each page indicating which attendee is being worked on.
- Contact information for the convention should appear on a public-facing page.
- Add a page for viewing con-related documents like maps or booklets.
- Add a Test Changes button to pages that can impact attendees to preview what effect the change will have. This feature is complex and will not likely be implemented for some time.
- Expand user profiles to allow public-facing profiles that include pictures, personal bios, etc.
